A Congress member in Rajya Sabha today demanded creation of a Central Madrassa Board for providing grants to these educational bodies in Uttar Pradesh and other parts of the country.
During the Zero Hour in Rajya Sabha, Sanjay Singh raised the issue and said while there were several thousand madrassas in UP, only a few hundred get government grants.
Such a situation cannot be considered to be fair to the Muslim community, Singh said adding that the government should create a Central Madrassa Board from giving grants.
