Crew of Bangladesh cargo ship rescued

All the 12 crew of Bangladeshi cargo ship M V Haji Ali, which was sinking in Korankhali river in the Sundarbans, were rescued and the ship was pushed to the shore near Kumirmari in West Bengal's South 24 Parganas district today.

Police said the crew were rescued by Chhoto Mallahkhali coastal police.

A small ship along with engineers reached the spot from Bangladesh and have begun repair of the ash-laden ship.

The ship had begun sinking on Sunday near Morichjhapi after developing engine trouble.

The ship had left Kolkata port and was bound for Mongola port in Bangladesh.
