Expressing concerns over "rising" crime rate in Rajasthan, senior Congress leader Sachin Pilot today said there has been an increase in the cases of crime against women during the BJP rule.

A recently-released report of Rajasthan Crime Records Bureau has pointed out towards the rise in crime rate and a Jaipur Police Commissionerate Report states that crime against women has risen by 25 per cent, the PCC President said in a release.

He claimed that 73 per cent of the women in the state are unemployed which shows that the fair sex here are financially weaker and not empowered.

Former UPA government worked for empowerment by introducing MGNREGA, but the BJP government in the state has indicated that it wants to weaken the programme by recommending to the Centre to convert the Act into a scheme.

Pilot accused the state government of being insensitive towards the demands of various sections of employees and people.

He said people have staged demonstrations at Udyog Maidan here to press for their demands, but the government has ignored them.
