Stressing for speedy disposal of cases relating to crime against women, the Punjab State Commission for Women today underscored the need for sensitisation of the masses over the issue.
Commission chief Paramjeet Kaur Landran noted that the onus to solve such cases on priority basis lies on police officers and women cells in the state.
Presiding over a meeting with the heads state's women cells, Landran said care must be taken in deputing female investigation officers in cases of sexual harassment.

The officers were also asked to aware masses about the availability of easy access to police assistance in cases of crime against women.
She said as many as 277 cases had come up before the commission for hearing, out of which 40 were solved through mediation.
Landran said the commission would request the state government to upgrade infrastructure for women's cells.
