The Delhi police's Crime Branch has arrested the main accused in the sexual assault and killing of a 25-year-old woman in south east Delhi's Sarita Vihar area in February, officials said on Tuesday.
A team of Crime Branch nabbed Dhirender Singh, 40, from Sarai Kale Khan bus terminal on Monday, said Ram Gopal Naik, the DCP(Crime Branch).
"The accused was declared proclaimed offender and an award of Rs 25,000 was announced on his arrest," the officer said.
He was wanted in connection with killing of the woman whose body was found at a secluded place near Kalindi Kunj road on February 27. A case was registered at Sarita Vihar police station and the victim was later identified.
Police nabbed four accused -- Dinesh, Saurabh, Rahimuddin and Chandreshwar -- in connection with the case after investigation. During interrogation, they revealed Dhirender Singh's name, Naik said.
The police learnt that Dhirender was in Rohini jail in connection with a murder case where he developed an enmity with another prisoner, Bunty. Dinesh was also in the jail along with Dhirender.

Dhirender came out of jail in 2018 and allegedly with the help of the co-accused hatched a conspiracy to frame a brother of Bunty.
"They procured a mobile number on a fake ID and called a girl known to Dinesh on the pretext of providing her a job. Dinesh took that girl to his flat where all his associates were already present. Dhirender and Dinesh made the victim write a two-page note blaming Bunty's brother and his two friends for anything happened to her in future," Naik said.
The accused allegedly sexually assaulted her before strangulating her to death. They packed her body in a gunny bag and dumped it near Kalindi Kunj road from where it was later found by the police, he added.
