Crime tracking network in UP by March next

Under CCTNS project, all police stations in the state would be computerised and linked to each other through a network to help in checking crime and criminals and speeding up investigation, he said chairing a meeting of officials here.

Usmani said around 62,420 personnel would be given computer training for implementation of the project and data digitisation of the last 10 years would be done.

He said after implementation of the project, people would be able to apply for character verification, arms licence and its renewal, passport verification, verification of tenant and traffic related complaints through internet.

The Chief Secretary said once the project was implemented people would not be required to visit police stations for these jobs.

 

Besides, senior officers would be able to do online monitoring of police stations and investigations, he said.

Usmani said people would be able to lodge their complaints through internet and a unique code like PNR number would be given in each complaint.

He said that through the code, the complainant would be able to get information regarding action taken or progress of investigation.
