: Ruling AINRC legislator Ashok Anand today demanded that criminal action be taken against officials of centrally sponsored JIPMER for allegedly flouting norms over recruitment of employees to various posts.
Raising the issue in the assembly he said any recruitment should be done only through Employment exchanges and alleged that the one here was 'colluding' with JIPMER.
Charging the management with offering jobs to migrants at the cost of the local youth, he said about 1500 such employees had been recruited so far. The government should not remain a silent spectator, but ensure ensure JIPMER adopts 50 per cent quota in total placements to benefit the local youth.

Though JIPMER was autonomous, it did not mean that the management could go its own way ignoring the local government while doing recruitment of staff.
Anand said when he filed a Public Interest Litigation in Madras High court ,questioning the modalities of appointment, the management had 'confessed' in court that they had done a mistake. This itself was sufficient for government to take criminal action against officials of JIPMER, he said.
He said even when there was vacancy and the management was going ahead with recruitment, it was telling the Employment Exchange there were no vacancives in the last three years.
This false information was an injustice to locals who could have jobs if the recruitment was through Employment exchange, he claimed and demanded that all appointments of the 1500 employees be quashed.
The Chief Minister did not reply to the member's representation.
