Criminal arrested in Odisha

An anti-social, allegedly involved in at least a dozen crimes including two murders, was arrested from Ragada forest in Odisha's Ganajm district after an encounter with police today.

Thirty-year-old Brundaban Nayak alias Babul of Binchana in Gangapur police station limit was admitted at MKCG Medical College and Hospital here with bullet injuries sustained during the exchange of fire.

His condition was stated to be out of danger, medical sources said.

Three of his associates were also arrested, said SP (Ganjam) Ashish Singh.

Fire arms, including two mausers, four bullets, bombs, four mobile sets and a motorbike were seized from them, police said.
 

Police said Babul was leading the gang at present, while several associates of the group were behind the bars earlier.

He was wanted in several cases including two murder casess- one at Bhanjanagar and other at Lathipada in Gangapur police station limit. "We are verifying the other cases pending against him", SP said.
