A case has been registered against an alleged land grabber and a few revenue officials by the crime branch, a spokesman said.

"A complainant approached us and accused that his land was grabbed by a land grabber with the help of some revenue officials," the spokesman said.

Yogaj Singh Charak, a resident of Kaluchak, Jammu, told the crime branch that he sold six kanals of land at Sunjwan to the accused Satvinder Singh at an amount of Rs 60 Lakh.

As an advance the accused paid him Rs 19 lakh and took power of attorney from Charak, but when the paper work was completed he refused to pay the balance, he said.

Charak alleged that even after informing the revenue officials that the power of attorney was revoked, the revenue officer transferred the land to Singh.

"On enquiry it was found that the accused with the help of revenue officials have cheated the complainant and hence a criminal case under various sections was registered against them," the spokesman said.
