Press Trust of India Puducherry
: Puducherry Lt Governor Kiran Bedi today termed as 'not true', the criticism of elected representatives through media that she had not been inviting them during her field visits.

She said they were always invited to join her during her weekend visits to various areas. "But the elected members do not however turn up, but later inform the media that they were not invited. It is not true," she said in a release.

Maintaining that her office Raj Nivas has a log of all messages sent to them, the former IPS officer said "it is for anyone to see the record as people must know this".

Urging the elected representatives to work with her, she said "this is exactly what Prime Minister Narendra Modi is asking us to do."

The Lt Governor said her planned visits every weekend start at 6 AM. She had gone to villages, temples, water bodies or to check buildings, based on complaints and requests at open house meetings with the public at Raj Nivas or from website or social network.

Media reports were also the other source, she said.

Bedi made it clear that she has nothing against the elected representatives.

They may have some important work to do. But they could not say that they were not informed or her visits or invited to join her, the Lt Governor said.

On her occasional unplanned visits, she said as the work could not wait, she was within her responsibility as Administrator to make such visits.
