Crocodile kills youth at river in Nareshwar village

A crocodile killed a youngster, identified as Akshay Vasava, when he was bathing on the banks of Narmada river in Nareshwar village Vadodara district today morning, police sources said.

Police inspector A N Gabani of the Karjan police station said that Akshay was bathing in the Narmada river at Nareshwar, when a crocodile attacked him and dragged him away into the river. His father Manu Vasava and other villagers saw the crocodile taking away Akshay.

Later, his body was fished out from the river and sent to a nearby hospital for post mortem by the local police.

The Karjan police station has lodged a case of accidental death.
 

This is the third incident reported near the banks of the Narmada river in less than 20 days.

Earlier, two such incidents were reported near Janod and Bhalod villages of neighbouring Bharuch district.
