Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan assured farmers today that their interests would be kept in mind while tailoring the new crop insurance policy under which a provision for their minimum income would also be taken into account.
"Farming is the only profession, which is devoid of a minimum income slab. So we are framing a crop insurance policy keeping income provision in mind.
"The policy will be such that in case of crop damage, a farmer would be compensated by a minimum income (which he had expected to draw from his produce) from the government," Chouhan told a farmers' gathering here.
