A CRPF constable was abducted by unknown miscreants from here this morning but was later rescued by local people, police said.
The CRPF constable identified as Ramesh Gopalan was waiting for a vehicle in the Tezpur town to go to his camp in the morning when two miscreants in a car forcefully dragged him into the car and sped away, the police said.
Gopalan started shouting when the car was at Bhujkwa area. Immediately the local people came to his rescue and caught hold of one of his abductors identified as Samirul Haque (28), they said.
On receiving information, CRPF team rushed to the spot, police said.
Another miscreant, identified as Majibur Rahman, managed to escape.
