CRPF constable shoots himself to death in Dantewada district

A Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) constable allegedly committed suicide by shooting himself with his service weapon at the paramilitary's camp in Chhattisgarh's insurgency-hit Dantewada district today, the police said.

Constable Satish Kumar (40) of CRPF's 111 battalion shot himself with his service rifle at his battalion camp in Dantewada town this afternoon, Dantewada Superintendent of Police Kamlochan Kashyap told PTI.

His colleagues heard the gunshot from the camp and found the constable lying in a pool of blood.

He was rushed to a local hospital where he was declared brought dead, Kashyap said.

The constable was a native of Tamil Nadu.
 

The exact reason which prompted him to take the extreme step is yet to be ascertained, Kashyap said.

A case has been registered, he said, adding that further probe is on.
