CRPF DG praises people of Meghalaya

The CRPF Director General K Durga Prasad today lauded the people of Meghalaya for rejecting violence and embracing peace terming the situation as 'a matter of great satisfaction'.

"People of Meghalaya deserved all the praise for rejecting violence and embracing peace," K Durga Prasad told reporters at the sideline of a programme where he laid the foundation stone for Administrative Block and Officers Mess of the North Eastern Sector Headquarters of the force here.

"The prevailing situation in Meghalaya he said, it is a matter of great satisfaction that violence in the State has come down significantly and situation is improving day by day," he said.
 

Prasad was here on a two day visit to the state where the CRPF had established its North Eastern Sector Headquarter here in 1976.

He further said that officers and men have been continuously striving hard to serve the people of north east region.

"Many of our gallant officers and men laid down their lives and made supreme sacrifice while fighting against insurgents and anti-national elements for establishing peace in the region," the CRPF DG said.

The Central Reserve Police Force is a lead counter insurgency force of the country mandated with the task of ensuring internal security of the nation by providing vital support to State Police forces to fight insurgency and terrorism.
