CRPF Inspector shot at

Some unidentified assailants allegedly shot at a CRPF inspector when he was out for his morning walk in RK Puram area of south Delhi here today, police said.

The incident took place at around 4.30 AM.

34-year-old Vikas, who is on deputation with Bureau of Police Research and Development (BPR&D) in Delhi, was going to the park located near the police colony in RK Puram.

Vikas was performing the duty of Staff Officer to Director General of BPR&D.

It was learnt that the assailants probably came on a bike and after firing two shots, they managed to flee the spot leaving behind a profusely bleeding Vikas, said the police.
 

Some passersby heard the bullet sounds and rushed him to the nearby AIIMS Trauma Centre where his condition is said to be stable.

Vikas has given a statement to the police in which he has accused his in-laws for hatching the conspiracy to eliminate him. His relations with is wife were strained and they were living separately since the last several months.

Investigators questioned his brother-in-law and father-in-law in this regard but no headway could be made till late evening.

A senior police officer said that following the preliminary investigations, a case has been registered under section 307 (attempt to murder) read with 34 (common intension) of the IPC and Arms Act with the RK Puram police station against unidentified perpetrators and a manhunt has been initiated to get some lead.

Further investigations are underway, police said.
