A CRPF jawan today attempted to commit suicide by shooting himself with his service rifle in Reasi district here.
Surinder Singh, a jawan of 6th battalion of CRPF, shot himself in the abdomen with his service rifle at Katra, the base camp of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi shrine, in Reasi district in the wee hours today, a police officer said.
He was initially rushed to a hospital at Katra, from where he was later shifted to Government Medical College (GMC) hospital here for specialised treatment.
A case has been registered. Investigations are going on, the police officer said.
