CRPF man suspected to have drowned in Bawana canal

A 32-year-old CRPF man is suspected to have drowned at Bawana canal in outer Delhi when he went there to immerse a Ganesh idol this evening.

The official has been identified as D Rao Sahib who is a native of Maharashtra and is posted at the Central Armed Force's camp in Bawana, said a police official.

Sahib went to the canal with his friends and allegedly fell after he slipped off. His friends failed to rescue him and called up the police control room.

Later, a rescue operation was launched by Delhi Fire Services and the district administration but Sahib could not be traced till late night, the offcial added.
