In a humanitarian gesture, a CRPF team helped a 29-year-old pregnant tribal woman reach a primary health centre by risking their lives in the Naxal- infested Bijapur district in Chhattisgarh, where she gave birth to twin baby girls.
The 204thCoBRA (CommandoBattalion for Resolute Action)- anelite unit of CRPF, carried the woman in their vehicle to Basaguda hospital, which is around seven kms from their camp, after clearing the way by deploying a road opening party as the route passed through the Maoist-dominated jungle area.
Briefing about the incident, Public Relations Officer, CRPF (Chhattisgarh Headquarter) VVN Prasanna told PTI that residents of Mandimarka village, situated at a distance of 11 kms south-east from Tarem camp, came carrying the woman, Sukko Telam, on bedstead and called for help at the CoBRA battalion company situated there.
