CRPF officer injured in blast in Sukma

A CRPF officer was today injured in an IED explosion in the Naxal hotbed of Sukma in south Bastar in Chhattisgarh.

26-year-old Sub-Inspector Jatin was patrolling the forests of Chintagufa along with his men to sanitise the area for the movement of other police convoys when an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) planted alongside the road went off.

The SI was injured by the splinters of the IED and was airlifted to Raipur, a senior official said.

The SI, who is from Haryana, belongs to the 150th battalion of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) based in Bastar for conducting anti-Naxal operation.
 

The movement of the troops and convoys will resume in sometime, the official said.
