Central Reserve Police Force officers were deployed at various points in the city, leading to suspicion that a tip-off related to militant activities had been received.
Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (Law Arrangement) Navjot Singh Mahal said this evening that three companies of CRPF personnel had been deployed in the city in view of upcoming festival season. They would remain posted till Dusshehra, he said.
He said there was no other reason for the deployment of the CRPF personnel.
