Set to intensify anti-Maoist operations in districts hit by left wing extremism, Odisha government today said it was hopeful that construction work of the crucial bridge over Gurupriya river would be completed by June next year.
This was revealed by Chief Secretary A P Padhi after presiding over the Unified Command meeting attended by the Odisha Police, representatives of the Central Para-Military force like CRPF and BSF.
He said the bridge over the river Gurupriya would connect about 151 villages located in the cot-off areas of Chitrakonda area of Malkangiri district.

The chief secretary said the meeting discussed about the anti-Maoist strategy and improvement of infrastructure like Command headquarters and requirement of the Battalion and the Company of the Central para-military forces deployed in the left wing extremism (LWE) areas.
He said some operational issues between the Central forces and the state government were also discussed.
"At the same time, steps are being taken to expedite developmental works in these districts," he said.
