Pushpa, aged 14, and Puja (6) opened an unclaimed bag lying in a forested area in Patna village, they said.
As they opened the bag, a crude bomb like device kept in the bag exploded injuring them, police said.
The girls were admitted to a hospital where their condition was stated to be stable, they said.
