Crude oil futures eased 0.77 per cent to Rs 4,512 per barrel today as investors cut positions amid a weakening trend in Asian markets.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, crude oil for delivery in May traded down by Rs 35, or 0.77 per cent, lower at Rs 4,512 per barrel in 2,550 lots.

Oil for June delivery also moved down Rs 34, or 0.75 per cent, to Rs 4,518 per barrel in 58 lots.

The trading sentiment dampened in futures trade as participants booked profits after recent gains amid a weak trend overseas, analysts said.

Meanwhile, West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude was trading down 23 cents, or 0.34 per cent, to USD 67.87, while Brent crude eased 51 cents, or 0.68 per cent, to USD 74.13 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
