Crude oil futures fall on weak overseas cues

Crude oil futures plunged by Rs 25 to Rs 3,374 per barrel today as speculators reduced bets amid a weakening trend overseas.

At Multi Commodity Exchange, crude for delivery in April dropped Rs 25, or 0.74 per cent, to Rs 3,374 per barrel in 6,068 lots.

On similar lines, oil for delivery in far-month May moved down by Rs 25, or 0.73 per cent, to Rs 3,414 per barrel in 1,788 lots.

Marketmen said trading sentiments at futures trade dampened after crude oil prices eased in global markets.

Meanwhile, West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude fell 13 cents, or 0.25 per cent, to USD 52.28, while Brent crude fell 16 cents, or 0.29 per cent, to USD 54.73 per barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
