Crude oil went up by 0.60 per cent to Rs 4,380 per barrel in the futures trade today as speculators raised their bets, taking positive cues from global markets.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, crude oil for delivery in April rose by Rs 26, or 0.60 per cent to Rs 4,380 per barrel in business turnover of 7,270 lots.
Likewise, the oil for delivery in far-month May was trading higher by Rs 24, or 0.55 per cent to Rs 4,383 per barrel in 548 lots.
Analysts said widening of positions by speculators in line with a firm trend in global market, led to rise in crude oil prices at futures trade.
Meanwhile, West Texas Intermediate (WTI) rose 26 cents, or 0.39 per cent, to USD 67.08 while Brent crude up 17 cents, or 0.24 per cent, at USD 72.23 per barrel.
