Crude oil prices on Monday gained Rs 6 to Rs 4,140 per barrel as speculators created fresh positions amid positive global trends.
Analysts said raising of bets by participants kept crude prices higher in futures trade.
On the Multi Commodity Exchange, crude for delivery in November traded higher by Rs 6, 0.15 per cent, to Rs 4,140 per barrel in 14,507 lots.
For December delivery, crude oil was quoting higher by Rs 2, or 0.05 per cent, at Rs 4,155 per barrel with 1,123 lots.
Globally, West Texas Intermediate crude oil was trading 0.10 per cent up at USD 57.78 per barrel.
Meanwhile, Brent crude, the international benchmark edged up 0.03 per cent to USD 63.32 per barrel in New York.
