Crude oil prices went up by 0.62 per cent to Rs 4,743 per barrel in futures trade today as participants widened bets tracking a firm trend in the global markets.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, crude oil for delivery in August rose by Rs 29, or 0.62 per cent, to Rs 4,743 per barrel in a business turnover of 5,531 lots.
Likewise, the oil for delivery in September was trading higher by a similar margin to Rs 4,701 per barrel in 105 lots.
Marketmen attributed the rise in crude oil futures to raising bets by participants in-line with a firming global trend.
Meanwhile, West Texas Intermediate crude prices went up by 23 cent, or 0.33 per cent, to USD 68.92 a barrel while Brent crude was trading higher by 9 cent, or 0.12 per cent, to USD 74.85 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
