Crude oil futures rose sharply by 1.58 per cent to Rs 3,024 per barrel today as speculators raised their bets amid a firm trend overseas.
In futures trading at the Multi Commodity Exchange, crude oil for delivery in May was trading notably higher by 1.58 per cent at Rs 3,024 per barrel.
Analysts said rise in crude oil futures was largely in tandem with a firming trend in Asia, where it extended gains as raging wildfires hit production in Canada.
Meanwhile, the US benchmark West Texas Intermediate crude prices for delivery in June was up 75 cents at USD 45.41 a barrel and Brent crude rose 51 cents to USD 45.77 a barrel.
