Crude oil futures prices today rose 0.76 per cent to Rs 6,208 per barrel as speculators enlarged positions, tracking a mixed trend in the Asian region.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, crude oil prices for delivery in February traded Rs 47 or 0.76 per cent higher at Rs 6,208 per barrel, with a business turnover of 5,856 lots.

The crude oil prices for March are also up by Rs 45, or 0.73 per cent, to Rs 6,207 per barrel, with a business volume of 536 lots.

Analysts attributed rise in crude futures to a mixed trend in Asian trade following a disappointing US jobs report but fears of another severe storm in the United States boosted demand for heating fuel.

Meanwhile, West Texas Intermediate crude prices for March delivery gained 13 cents to USD 100.01 a barrel in on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
