Crude oil thief held

With the arrest of a 50-year-old man, Delhi Police today claimed to have worked out nine cases of crude oil theft registered in various places in Rajasthan and Haryana.

Acting on a tip-off that Leela Dhar who is wanted in various cases of oil pilferage is living in Nihal Vihar, police arrested him.

"During interrogation Dhar told police that about 4-5 years back he came in contact with some persons involved in theft of crude oil from a pipeline passing through Haryana and Rajasthan," said Additional Commissioner of Police (West) V Renganathan.

"He started providing his oil tanker for transportation of the crude oil stolen from the pipeline. His three tankers were seized by Rajasthan police and he was proclaimed offender in these cases," he said
 

Haryana and Rajasthan Police have been informed about his arrest, police said.
