Crude palm oil prices fell by Rs 2.50 to 550.90 per kg in futures trade today as speculators indulged in reducing positions amid a weak trend overseas ahead of Chrismas holiday.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, crude palm oil for the January contract fell by Rs 2.50, or 0.45 per cent, to Rs 550.90 per 10 kg with a turnover of 200 lots.
Similarly, the oil for delivery in December fell by Rs 1.80, or 0.32 per cent, to Rs 547.80 per 10 kg, with trading volume of 91 lots.
Traders said apart from subdued domestic demand, a weakening trend overseas after participants booked proftis before Chrismas holiday, mainly led to a fall in crude palm oil prices in the future trade.
