''For quite a long time, CRY and its partner NGOs were pro-actively advocating for constituting a statutory body at the state-level to address the issues of child rights violations'', CRY's regional director (East) Atindranath Das said.
''Though late, the state government has acknowledged the necessity at last'' and at a time when West Bengal had witnessed some serious incidents of child rights violations, he said.
''CRY strongly believes that it is high time that the authorities take such matters with utmost seriousness, and strengthen the state commission for protection of child rights to make sure that a strong and effective redressal mechanism is in place to address such issues and incidents of child rights violations'', Das said.
CRY, he said, was ready to support the commission with technical insights and guidance.
