Jharkhand Chief Secretary Sajal Chakraborty and JMM MLA Akhil Akhtar today shook hands in the presence of Speaker Shashank Sekhar Bhokta, a fortnight after each other indulged in a verbal duel following delay of a scheduled meeting.

"I called both the chief secretary and the MLA, heard both the sides and it (verbal duel) happened following some misunderstanding. The chief secretary expressed regret and both of them shook hands at my chamber," the assembly speaker said here.

"Later in the day, the postponed meeting for the Multi-sector Development Programme held in a cordial atmosphere," Bhokta said, referring to the spat between the two on June 24.

While Chakraborty had accused the MLA of speaking abusive words at him at the secretariat, the legislator had alleged that the top officer asked him to "get out" of his chamber.

It came to light after Chakraborty narrated the incident at a press conference and Akhtar also telling the media the same day.
