CSIO celebrates 56th foundation day

The Central Scientific Instruments Organisation (CSIO) today celebrated its 56th foundation day here.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr P S Goel, Honorary Distinguished Professor, Antriksh Bhawan, ISRO Bangalore noted, "Engineering is not just about degree, but a way of life and it reflects in every day actions."

He was speaking on the topic 'I am an Engineer..,Am I ?

Dr Goel stressed on the fact that engineering was not just about degree or doing research, but it involved all these aspects to find solutions to current and future problems.

"Engineering may or may not result in big change, but it is a 'mindset to change'," he said.
 

The scientist had started his career by initiating activity on Satellite Altitude Control System for spinning RS-1 satellite at Trivandrum. He later moved to Bangalore as part of Arya Bhata Project team.

He remained Chairman, Spacecraft System Advisory Board for IRS-1, besides at other key positions.

Prof R K Sinha, Director, CSIO while welcoming the chief guest highlighted the aims and goals of CSIO and its contribution in the field of science and technology.

Releasing the annual report of CSIO, he said the lab had traversed a long journey.

He also pointed out the new heights achieved in 'head-up display' technology (i.E. Any transparent display that presents data without requiring users to look away from their usual viewpoints) as well as plans to make variants for different types of aircrafts.

Sinha also informed about the developments in the areas of Agrionics, Biomedical applications, Photonics and Geo-seismic instrumentation.
