Total funds under corporate social responsibility (CSR) should be spent transparently by companies based in Jharkhand so that benefits reflect in the society, Jharkhand Chief Minister Raghubar Das said today.

"Two per cent of the funds under CSR by state-based companies should be spent in a transparent manner and benefits to the society should be visible," an official release said quoting Das.

The chief minister's observation came during a meeting with the Managing Director of Tata Steel India, T V Narendran, the release said here.

When he met Union Mines and Steel Minister Narendra Singh Tomar yesterday Das had suggested that funds spent under CSR of different companies should be made available to the state to spend as per its priorities, particularly developing infrastructure in the most backward villages.
