BJP today urged the Punjab government to take swift and exemplary action in the alleged desecration of a holy book and said that those responsible for such incidents should be dealt with an iron hand.

Terming the Faridkot incident as "unfortunate", BJP leader Tarun Chugh said, "People responsible for such an act need to be dealt with an iron hand."

Nobody could be allowed to play with the sentiments of the people, peace and the communal harmony in the state, he said.

Appealing to political parties not to politicize the issue, Chugh demanded that the probe into the incident be completed in a time-bound manner and culprits given exemplary punishment.
