Culture ministry grants Rs 4 cr to BHU

The Union Ministry of Culture has granted Rs 4 crore for upgrading and expanding Banaras Hindu University's 'Bharat Kala Bhawan', an archaeological museum located inside the varsity campus here.

The BHU administration will utilise the fund for setting up a multi-media gallery, a storage house and install solar panels, besides for modernisation and updating its display systems, said Ajay Kumar Singh, director of Kala Bhawan.

The administration had sent a proposal of Rs 18 crore to the culture ministry, of which the ministry granted nearly Rs 4 crore.

The fund has been released by the Union Ministry of Culture, he said adding that IT giant Infosys has also granted money to support Kala Bhawan's modernisation under its Corporate Social Responsibility Fund.
