The Culture Ministry would receive around 10 per cent more funds in the fiscal starting April as the government today allocated Rs 2,738.47 crore for it in the Union Budget.
The ministry was allocated Rs 2,500 crore in the budget for the ongoing fiscal.
Of the total budget, Archaeological Survey of India would get Rs 924.37 crore while Rs 243.01 crore have been earmarked for centenaries and anniversaries of famous personalities, celebrations and schemes, according to the Budget presented by Finance Minister Arun Jaitley in Parliament today.
Among other allocations, Rs 310.48 crore crore has been made for Kala Sanskriti Vikas Yojna and about Rs 96.64 crore for libraries and archives.
