Normalcy today returned to Jammu region, barring Kishtwar district where three persons were killed in communal clashes, even as Union Home Secretary Anil Goswami today paid a visit here and reviewed security situation in Jammu and Kashmir with senior state officials.
Shops and offices reopened and people were out doing their chores as normalcy returned to Jammu region a week after outbreak of communal violence in Kishtwar, where curfew did remain clamped for the eighth day.
Goswami, who also visited the border areas, chaired a high-level meeting of senior officers of the state, various security agencies and Army and reviewed the security situation arising after the communal violence in Kishtwar.
"I have come here to take a review of the border situation and that of Jammu region - we have been briefed", Goswami told reporters here.
"I also met the people of the region," he said.
"I have noted down all the points -- After returning back we will examine these points in MHA -- After that what is needed to be done -- will be decided," Goswami said.
Meanwhile, District Magistrate, Kishtwar, Basser Khan told PTI, "The situation is peaceful-- there was no reports of any untoward incident from anywhere."
He said, "We are thinking of giving relaxation in curfew but that depends about the situation."
Curfew was imposed on Friday last after communal clashes in which three persons were killed, over 20 others injured and 75 business establishments along with 35 vehicles gutted.
Seven districts, where curfew was lifted by authorities yesterday, have not reported any untoward incidents, an official said.
