Authorities today imposed curfew in some parts of the city and restrictions in some sensitive areas in other districts of Kashmir to foil the separatists' plans of holding a congregation at Jamia Masjid in old city.

"Curfew has been imposed in five police station areas of the city as a precautionary measure today," a police official said.

He said the areas where curfew has been imposed include Nowhatta, Khanyar, Rainawari, Maharajgunj and Safakadal police station areas.

The official said restrictions have been imposed in several district towns to maintain law order.

The curbs were imposed as separatists had asked people to assemble at Jamia Masjid in Nowhatta area of the city for a rally after Friday prayers.

As many as 85 people, including two cops, have been killed and several thousand others injured in the ongoing unrest in the Valley.
