Curfew relaxed in Pali town

Curfew was relaxed for two hours in Nimbaz area in Pali district where communal violence erupted on Thursday during a religious procession.

The curfew was relaxed from 7 AM to 9 AM today, police said, adding that the situation in the area was under control.

Police have also arrested 37 people in connection with the violence.

The curfew was clamped on Thursday evening after some people pelted stones on the procession which was being taken out on Hanuman Jayanti.

Enraged over the incident, those who were part of the procession burnt some shops and vehicles. The incident sparked communal tension in the town.
