Curfew was imposed in the Buddhist-dominated town on Wednesday following clashes between two communities in which three persons including a senior official were injured.
In view of improvement in the situation, curfew was initially relaxed for three hours from noon but was later extended for three more hours, a police spokesman said.
"The relaxation period passed off peacefully during which Muslims also offered Friday prayers," the spokesman said.
Since there was no report of any untoward incident from anywhere, the authorities did not impose restrictions even after the expiry of the extended relaxation, he said.
The administration is, however, continuously monitoring the situation which is fast returning to normal, he added.
