'Current storage level in key reservoirs better than avg of 10

The water storage level in 91 important reservoirs of the country has equalled the position it was in during the corresponding period last year.

According to a release here, water available in the 91 important reservoirs of the country as on June 11, 2015, was 40.139 BCM, which is 26 per cent of the total storage capacity of these reservoirs.

"This storage is 100 per cent of the storage of corresponding period of last year and 139 per cent of storage of average of last 10 years.

"The storage position during current year is equal to the storage position of last year but is better than the storage average of last 10 years," the release added.
 

The Central Water Commission monitors live storage status of these reservoirs on a weekly basis.
