The four-day Monsoon Session of the Himachal Pradesh Assembly, marred by disruptions and adjournments, ended today with the House passing the Health Education University Bill.
Speaker BBL Butail adjourned the house within 10 minutes of the start of the day's proceedings after BJP members pressed for admission of their adjournment motion under rule 67 to discuss the law and order situation in the state.
As soon as the house met, BJP's chief whip, Suresh Bharadwaj demanded the discussion, saying Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh was facing corruption charges.

However, Butail maintained that the matter was in the court and thus could not be raised in the house.
BJP member Ravinder Singh Ravi then accused the state government of not cooperating with the CBI in investigation of Gudia gangrape and murder case, replying to which, the chief minister accused the BJP member of misleading the people, and said the case was handed over to the CBI at his behest.
Amidst uproarious scenes, Parliamentary Affairs minister Mukesh Agnihotri intervened, reminding the lawmakers that it was the last day of the session and they should let the house transact its business.
As the appeal had no sobering effect, the Speaker adjourned the house till 12:00 pm.
When the house reassembled, the Himachal Pradesh University of Health sciences Bill 2017 was passed.
The Bill provides for single platform for health education institutions, improving and standardizing health education institutions in the process of teaching and learning, bringing uniformity in the field of health education and providing latest health care facilities and health education.
