Customs officials seize Rs 5.75 cr gold biscuits

Gold biscuits weighing 15 kilogram and valued at Rs 5.75 crore were seized from an unclaimed baggage at the aiport here by customs officials.

They have also detained two persons, who handle the baggages, in this regard, airport sources said today.

Acting on a tip off that an unclaimed baggage was lying at the domestic terminal, customs officials inspected it and found the gold biscuits kept concealed in it last night, airport sources said.

The seized gold weighed 15 kgs and was worth Rs 5.75 crore, they said.

Initial investigations revealed that baggage was lying at Bay no. 8 after the arrival of a private airline flight from Singapore to Chennai, which was to continue as a domestic flight to New Delhi.
 

'Two airline contract employees are being questioned this regard', they added.
