Customs department sleuths tonight seized a huge consignment of banned Methaqualone at the Kempegowda International Airport here.
The consignor wanted to smuggle the psychotropic substance to Malaysia, Customs officials said.
They said around 12.9 kg of Methaqualone was found by Customs Intelligence unit officers of the Aircargo Commissionerate.
The substance is banned under NDPS Act, 1985,
the officials said, adding that the seized item is worth Rs 6.5 crore.
The consignor had despatched the substance through courier terming it palm sugar, said a Customs officer.
The consignment was booked from Chennai to Kaula Lumpur. Further investigation is under progress, the officer said.
The officer did not divulge much information about the courier company and the possible persons involved in the crime.
