The twin cities of Cuttack and Bhubaneswar will soon get a new by-pass road in order to avoid heavy rush in the National Highway-5 connecting Chennai and Kolkata.

Odisha Public Works secretary Nalini Kanta Pradhan stated this while addressing the 75th Annual Session of the India Road Congress here.

"The state government's proposal for a four-lane 64-km bypass road from Khurda to Manguli has got in-principle approval of the Centre," Pradhan said.

The detailed project report (DPR) for the proposed road costing about Rs 900 crore will be prepared soon, he said.
