With rise in population the Commissionerate police in Cuttack city will have two more police stations soon in its jurisdiction.
In view of the rapid increase in population and increase in number of cases filed particularly in Chauliganj and Cuttack Sadar police stations, plans are afoot to bifurcate these two police stations soon, Cuttack-Bhubaneswar police Commissioner R P Sharma said.
The city now has 24 police stations including a Mahila PS and two Bidyut thanas.

"The CRRI police station is already on cards. But due to non-availability of land, the police station is yet to come. Similarly, there are plans to bifurcate the Cuttack Sadar police station to carve out a fresh one at a suitable location", the police commissioner said.
The Sadar police station has a jurisdiction of over 71 square kilometres having a population of over two lakhs now. The police station registered 255 cases in the year 2012 and all of a sudden the number of cases registered here in the following year increased to 412. By July end this year, the Sadar police station has already registered 251 cases.
The PS is now being manned by an inspector, four SIs and four ASIs.
