The Society for Cyberabad Security Council (SCSC) has been revamped for increasing awareness about safety of women employees in the IT corridor and Cyberabad Police Commissioner C V Anand has taken over as its chief.

The representatives of HYSEA (Hyderabad Software Enterprises Association) and NASSCOM (National Association of Software and Services Companies) have been brought in as office-bearers in the SCSC, by Anand, in consultation with executive committee members and IT industry leaders.

It was noticed that several initiatives taken up by the Cyderabad Police and SCSC together were not percolating down to the large number of employees due to a disconnect between the security body and IT companies' managements.

There was also a lack of penetration/ presence of SCSC on several IT firms' campuses, Anand told reporters here yesterday.

To start with, the SCSC will work from Cyberabad Police Commissioner Office and will have four sub-committees which will take up focused activity in their areas of women's forum, traffic forum, security forum and membership forum, the Cyberabad Police Commissioner said.

"There are around three lakh employees working in different software companies in the IT corridor and about one lakh of them are women," he said.

The sub-committees will impart training to women on security aspects and also create awareness among the employees to be prepared in the event of terror strike, he said.

The IT corridor of Cyberabad houses several multinational software companies in Madhapur and Gachibowli, among others.
